The Breast Cancer Fund organizes a Climb Against the Odds each year to raise money for their worthwhile cause. This year participants will climb Mount Shasta on June 24th. Those who cannot be at Mount Shasta for the climb will be taking 14,162 steps/ 3 miles (the distance to the top of Mount Shasta) in their own community.
Only 10% of breast cancers are genetic. Science is revealing more and more links between the rise of breast cancer and toxic chemicals and radiation. The Breast Cancer Fund raises awareness of the environmental and chemical causes of breast cancer, and fights to remove these causes through advocacy, public action and education. Their mission is clear: to eliminate the environmental and preventable causes of breast cancer. In working closely with them, we can each help to stop this epidemic, while making the world and the products we consume safer for everyone.
I will not be at Mount Shasta, but on Wednesday, June 24th I, along with friends and family, will walk the three mile circle around Memorial Park to raise money and awareness. Those who are in the Houston area, please pledge to join me in a comment on this post! Be sure to leave your email address so I can contact you with details.
If you cannot participate in person but want to show your support, please visit my team's fundraising page on the Virtual Climb website and make a donation! I have set a fundraising goal of $250. Wouldn't it be fabulous if we could exceed that?!?
I will keep you posted on my fundraising progress and will post pics of our "climb" on the 24th. In the meantime, check out The Breast Cancer Fund's great website. Read about new studies, campaigns and the progress that has been made!
